- The decision is finally made to send Paul to Caesar. What were the charges brought against him?
- Why was so much detail given on the actual voyage to Rome and all of the difficulties associated with the trip?
- Make a list of the verses in this chapter where Paul is shown favor or respect by the centurion Julius.
- Why were Paul and his fellow prisoners put on private ships to be transported?
- What caused the difficulty in maneuvering around the island of Crete and on to Italy? Why did the sailors refuse to believe Paul and not go beyond Fair Havens?
- Read verse 9. What time of year was it? Why did the journey become more dangerous by insisting on going on?
- How far were they planning to go from Fair Havens before harboring for the winter? How far did they actually go?
- Read verses 18-20. Why had the crew lost hope? What did they expect would happen to them? How did Paul encourage them? Did they believe him?
- How long had they been in a ship out of control when they finally ran aground?
- How large was the boat that Paul was on? How many passengers were there? How many made it safely to land?
- Why did the crew and others on the ship want the prisoners killed? Why were they spared?
What is our reaction when we face impossible odds, or difficult circumstances? How can we learn from Paul, and from those with him, about the best way to trust God?
